Title: AN AUDIT ON CONCORDANCE BETWEEN BRAF IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR TESTS IN MALIGNANT MELANOMA OF SKIN
Abstract: Determining BRAF mutation status of melanoma patients is important in selecting patients for immunotherapy. Molecular tests are the current gold standard in detecting this genetic alteration. A mutation specific monoclonal antibody has recently been developed which detects this mutated protein and can be used for immunohistochemical analysis. Immunohistochemistry is an easier, cheaper and quicker test compared to molecular methods. This audit analyses the feasibility of replacing molecular tests with immunohistochemistry by comparing the concordance between these two tests.
