In fact, enormous amounts of CO2 have been emitted since the 19th century from the activities of human beings, for instance, industry, transportation and the utilization of buildings. Most scientists believe that the increase of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere causes global warming and that global warming and climate change will bring human beings many disasters and widespread damage, as was shown in Chapter 10.
