Abstract: S i on ignore les circonstances exactes de la rencontre de Max Jacob avec Louis Vincent Goulven Salou, en revanche, on sait que c'est au poète que le jeune comédien doit sa rencontre et son engagement dans la troupe de Pitoëff en 1929.Toutefois, les collaborations de Max Jacob à la toute jeune revue Raison d'être, revue de l'activité de l'esprit (1928 à 1930), cofondée, entre autres, par Louis Salou permettent de situer leur rencontre probablement à partir du second séjour parisien du poète en 1928 et sans aucun doute dans le cercle des jeunes amis qui fréquentent l'Hôtel Nollet où résident de nombreux comédiens.Né en 1902 dans une famille d'origine bretonne, Louis Salou est immédiatement « adopté » par Jacob.La correspondance que nous présentons ici le prouve -Jacob ne cessera de montrer sa bienveillance.Car, bien que membre titulaire de la troupe Pitoëff puis acteur de cinéma où il impose sa longue et fine silhouette (le comte de Montray dans Les Enfants du Paradis ou Ernest VI dans La Chartreuse de Parme…), le jeune homme connaît de nombreuses difficultés professionnelles et personnelles.
