Title: Clinical Observations on Double-needle Acupuncture for the Treatment of Post-stroke Leg Hypermyotonia
Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy of double-needle acupuncture in treating post-stroke leg hypermyotonia.Methods Fifty patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups(25 cases each).The treatment group received double-needle acupuncture at antagonistic point 4 and antagonistic point 5 on the affected leg,twice daily and the control group,conventional acupuncture(at points Yanglingquan(GB34),Zusanli(ST36),Yinlingquan(SP9) and Taichong(LR3) on the affected leg).Results The total efficacy rate was 72% in the treatment group and 56% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The effect of double-needle acupuncture is better than that of conventional acupuncture in treating post-stroke leg hypermyotonia.
