Title: The significance of VEGF and MMP-2 expression in esophage squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the significance of MMP-2 and VEGF expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The protein expression of MMP-2 and VEGF in 58 cases with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 30 cases of normal tissue were determined by immunohistochemical streptavidinperoxidase method. Results The expression of MMP-2 and VEGF increase obviously in Escc. The decreased VEGF and MMP-2 expression was correlated with lymph node metastasis infiltration deph and differrntiatiation degree of ESCC,the expression of MMP-2 was inversely correlated with the expression of VEGF in ESCC.Conclusions Both MMP-2 and VEGF have rele- vance to infiltrating depth and lymph nodemetastasis and clinical staging of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Combinative detecting the expression of MMP-2 and VEGF may provide more accurate informations in diagnosis and predicting the prognosis of ESCC.
