Title: Jean et Olivier de Bretagne, comtes de Penthièvre, vicomtes de Limoges (1384-1433)
Abstract: La vicomté de Limoges, passé sous la tutelle bretonne suite au mariage d'Arthur de Bretagne avec Marie de Limoges, fait l'objet d'un long litige durant les années 1310 : entre la duchesse Isabelle de Castille, duchesse de Bretagne, épouse de Jean III, d'une part et son beau-frère, Guy de Bretagne, d'autre part. En effet, le duc a attribué successivement cette terre à l'une, à titre de douaire, puis à l'autre, comme apanage. Il en résulte un conflit assez violent, lors duquel la duchesse va jusqu'à faire intervenir sa mère, reine et régente de Castille, ainsi que le pape, ceci tandis que Guy entreprend de s'imposer dans la vicomté grâce à plusieurs coups de main, mais aux dépends des seigneurs locaux, qui s'en plaignent. Jean III reste quant à lui en retrait. L'affaire ne prend fin qu'avec l'intervention royale française, qui impose la restitution de Limoges à Isabelle de Castille et l'attribution du Penthièvre à Guy, en compensation.
