The aim of this studies to analyze and to identify phrase structures found in the novel Pinocch...This study entitled “An Analysis of Phrase Structure in Tania Zamorsky’s Children Story Book Pinocchio”. The aim of this studies to analyze and to identify phrase structures found in the novel Pinocchio by Tania Zamorsky retold from the Carlo Collodi original story with syntax approaches. This study applied theories from Andrew Carnie that explained about phrase structure rules. The method used in analyzed the data is qualitative approach that represented by tree diagram. The data were taken from the chapter I to X of English language children book story novel Pinocchio by Tania Zamorsky. After analyzing the data, it is revealed that there are 232 phrases of noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, adverbial phrase and prepositional phrase that are found in the novel. The are 65 noun phrases found in the novel and it makes the most dominant phrase. The structure of the phrases found are NP = det + N and NP = det + AdjP (Adj=N). VP = V + NP (det + N). AdjP = Adv+ Adj and AdjP = Adj + N. PP = P + NP (det + N) and PP = P + NP + (NP) = Adj + N Thus, the novel is indicated as a suitable novel for children as the language used in the novel, specifically on its phrase is using simple phrases.
