Title: Cholesteryl ester transfer protein, lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase, low density lipoprotein particle size and intima media thickness in patients with coronary heart disease
Abstract: Aim: Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) facilitates the reciprocal transfer of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides between lipoproteins. Lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) is the key enzyme responsible for esterification of free cholesterol to cholesteryl esters. CETP and LCAT play a major role in lipoprotein metabolism, remodeling and reverse cholesterol transport.
