Title: Successive Application of Reservoir Simulation Models--A Case Study
Abstract: Replacement of the conventional method of generating hydrology by a well established reservoir simulation model renders enormous amounts of flexibility and savings in computation time. The linkage that connects the generated hydrology to the input data required for the subsequent model execution is a data bank that contains a large number of data files representing varying assumptions and operational criteria. The subsequent simulation of the main frame of the system is preceded by the selection of the pertinent data sets from the established data bank through an automated procedure. The whole process is currently being used by the California Department of Water Resources for various statewide planning studies. A case study of the American River Basin and the California State Water Project is presented along with the descriptions of the models.
