Title: Bio-Statistical Approaches in Studying the Origin and the Parental Affinities of the Populations
Abstract: A number of bio-statistical approach are now available to understand the origin of a population, the genetic relationships between the populations and the relative contribution of ancestral populations to the present day admired populations. The present paper provides the findings of two different studies ; one on the estimation of genetic admixture among the Mexican American of starr country , Texas and the other on genetic affinities of srilankan populations with special reference to origin of the Sinhalese. The results, in aggregate, Suggest that the population under study are homogeneous inspite of their admixed nature and point towards the utility of such populations for genetic and epidemlogical studies. The findings also suggest the utility of bio-Statistically methods in understanding the origin of a population in association with other related facts.
