Title: Automatic insertion of subject content in domain knowledge of an intelligent tutoring system
Abstract: In the education field, most developed systems aim to provide an adapted learning process according to the user's needs. Intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs) are defined as instructional software that use artificial intelligence techniques with knowledge based on cognitive psychology and education to provide personalized learning process. To ensure this goal, the system should respond to the learner's specific needs by generating automatically compatible courses and giving feedbacks according to the past and current learner's profile. The arduous part in developing ITS is collecting and codifying the knowledge domain and identifying its inter-relationship. To address this issue, in this work, we developed an ITS based on an interface that offers the tutor the possibility to insert didactical knowledge and its related pedagogical knowledge. In order to reduce the complexity (time and coast) of designing and implementing the ITS, this paper describe the architecture of this system showing the organization of the knowledge bases, and the adopted approach for the automatic insertion of the subject content in the knowledge domain. The approach aims to transform an input courses form to an xml code respecting the knowledge representation of the ITS models. This approach facilitates the added of new content in the knowledge base.
