A non-linear, 100-ton, freight car vehicle model and a 70-ft (21.38 m), simply supported, steel deck girder bridge model were used in this study. Equations of motions for the vehicle, the bridge, and the bridge/vehicle interactions are also presented. The track irregularities on the approach and the bridge were generated from power spectral density functions for Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Class 4 track. Either zero or two percent of the critical bridge damping was assumed for the bridge.Read More
