Title: Application of V-I Cooperative Experiment for Safe Driving in Kanagawa
Abstract: The authors have been working on a series experiments for attracting drivers’ attention to careful driving, based on vehicle-roadside communications using some beacons. In 2008, they had constructed an experimental system in Kanagawa Prefecture by combining IR beacons with DSRC, so that they would be able to make good use of both of them. The authors had prepared three patterns of the information provision for the experiment to verify effective Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for drivers. At this time, the authors tried to analyze the driver’s operations in three different patterns by compiling the CAN-data of the test car. They then studied the impacts of the experimental system on drivers based on the results of a comparative evaluation of the information provision and timing of messages provided via an on-board unit.
