Abstract: Hurley and Taylor (Planning News 2015 vol 41 no 9) raise important issues for planning theory and practice. How do they inform each other? And in which ways should they inform each other? We explore these questions by discussing a communitybased project that was recently completed by a team of academics, council officers and a design consultant.
