Title: Survey on the Awareness Rate of Mental Health Knowledge among Freshmen in Northern Henan
Abstract: Objective: To understand the awareness rate of knowledge about mental health among freshmen of a university in Northern Henan. Methods: The freshmen who took part in the test was selected through random sampling. Results: The average correct rate was 56.95%. The average awareness rate of mental health of the fresh students was 63.8%. The main path of gaining mental health knowledge was schooling (64.4%). 93.6% students had problems of interpersonal relationship, of which the relationship among classmates was the biggest (48.9%). Only 10.1% students would turn to mental health agency for help when the mental problems occurred. 27.1% students could discriminate the depressive disorder. Conclusion: To improve the psychology quality of mental health knowledge, schooling should strength the education of mental health of freshmen, leading students to build a right understanding of the mental disorder.
