Title: EVALUATING CERTAIN STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF RECYCLED PAVEMENT MATERIALS
Abstract: When assessing the purpose and applicability of a given recycling approach, the pavement engineer routinely considers the structural benefit to the pavement system as most critical. This study's purpose was to estimate the performance of recycled materials in a standard structural system and to evaluate the structural capability of the recycled materials relative to conventional materials based on in situ testing. Twenty-six field recycling projects were evaluated. In 14 of the 26 projects the recycled asphalt concrete was used as a surface, and in the other 12 projects the old asphalt concrete was broken down and recycled either in-place or at a central plant and used as a base course.
