Title: Association between Parental Emotion-Related Socialization Behaviors and Adolescents' Peer Social Skills: Moderated by Parenting Style *
Abstract: The present study which using questionnaire method aimed to examine the unique effect of PERSB (Parental emotion-related socialization behaviors) on adolescents' peer social skills and the moderate effect of parenting style on PERSB-peer social skills relation. The regression results showed that: 1) Maternal coaching of emotion was positively related to adolescents peer social skills after their parenting style was controlled. However, paternal PERSB didn't predict peer social skills. This indicated that maternal PERSB have an additional effect on adolescents' peer social skills relative to the maternal parenting style. 2) The re- lation of paternal emotion discussion and coaching and adolescents' peer social skills was moderated by pa- ternal warmth and autonomy. Whereas, there is no moderating effect for mother's parenting style.
