Title: CT and MRI Findings of Nontraumatic Lesions in the Optic Canal
Abstract: Objective To explore the CT and MRI findings of nontraumatic lesions in the optic canal.Methods CT and MRI findings of 28 patients with nontraumatic lesions in the optic canal were analyzed.Results Nontraumatic lesions in the optic canal were divided into three types:stenosis of optic canal,expansion of optic canal,bony destruction of optic canal.Diseases caused stenosis of optic canal,including fibrous dysplasia(n=12),osteoma(n=3),Albers Schonberg disease(n=4),meningioma(n=6).Diseases caused expansion of optic canal,including vascular malformation(n=3).Diseases caused bony destruction of optic canal,including metastatic tumor(n=3).Conclusion CT and MRI examinations can find the changes in the optic canal which were caused by nontraumatic lesions in the optic canal.
