Title: Expressions and significance of VEGF and MVD in gastric carcinoma tissues
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To observe the expression and correlation of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and microvessel density(MVD) in gastric carcinoma tissues.METHODS: Immunhistochemical stain was used to test the expression of VEGF and Ⅷ-R Ag.The difference of VEGF and Ⅷ-R Ag expression among different indexs of pathologic factors was also analyzed.RESULTS: The positive rate of VEGF in 80 gastric cancer tissues was 71.25%(57/80).VEGF expression was associated with clinical stage,TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and serosal invasion(P0.05).The average level of MVD in gastric cancer tissue was 36.563±3.901.The average level of MVD was also associated with TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and serosal invasion(P0.05).The average level of MVD in gastric cancer tissues with VEGF positive expression(36.83±8.87)was higher than that of VEGF negative expression tissues(31.08±9.54).CONCLUSIONS:The expression of VEGF may play a role in the tumor genesis and tumor development.VEGF and MVD may be a good marker to monitor the lymphatic metastasis of gastric carcinoma.
