Title: Preparation and Properties of a Fluorinated-Copolymer Latex
Abstract: The influence of fluorinated monomer on the properties of copolymer emulsion containing fluorine was investigated by preparing a fluorinated-copolymer latex perfluorononely and investing its properties. The fluorinated-copolymer emulsion with blue-fluorescence was prepared by semicontinuous emulsion polymerization initiated by K2S2O8 with butyl acrylate(BA),methyl methacrylate(MMA) and perfluorononely allyl ether(PFNAE) as polymerized monomers. The prepared PFNAE-BA-MMA copolymers(PBM) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),contact angle measurement, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and thermo-gravimetric(TG) analysis, respectively. It was found that, when the fluorinated monomer PFNAE was introduced, the hydrophobicity, glass transition temperature(Tg) and thermal stability of the prepared copolymer will be improved. The water contact angle of prepared PBM with PFNAE contain of 25%(wt) is 94.9°,and when the PFNAE contain in the prepared PBM is 20%(wt),the copolymer begins to decompose at 221℃ and decomposes completely at 429.5℃;its glass transition temperature Tg is about 8.5℃.Finally,the prepared PBM were found to be good copolymers with hydrophobicity and heat stability.
