Title: Influencing Factors of Prehospital Delay among Acute Stroke Patients
Abstract: Objective To investigate the duration of pre-hospital delay and its influencing factors among patients with acute cerebral vascular disease. Methods Self-designed questionnaire was applied to investigate acute stroke patients in Mentougou hospital from March 30th,2009 to March 30th,2010.In addition to general information,we divided the patients into two groups according to whether the stroke patients arrived at the hospital within 6 hours after the emergence of stroke symptoms and analyzed the influence factors of pre-hospital delay. Results The time that patients spend from stroke to treatment was associated with types of transportation,first-aid spots, residential spots, patients′ knowledge about stroke and stroke types(P0.05).Length of prehospital delay was not associated with whether the onset of the disease was at home or outside(P0.05). Conclusion After the onset of stroke,42.3% patients can not reach the hospital within 6 hours.Prehospital time delay is mainly due to insufficient knowledge about stroke, insufficient use of the emergency telephone/ambulance.It is important to enhance public knowledge about stroke with the hope to improve the rate of first-aid within 6 hours.
