Title: Evaluation of β-cell function and insulin resistance in female patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by hyperglycemic clamp
Abstract: Objective To evaluate β-cell function and insulin resistance in female patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods The investigation used case control study.Nine patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) and seven control subjects(C) were analyzed for β-cell function and insulin sensitivity by hyperglycemic clamp. All subjects were measured subcutaneous adipose areas(SA),visceral adipose areas(VA),liver in-phase(IP) and out-phase(OP) by MRI.Result The result showed the levels of fasting insulin(FINS),first phase insulin release(1Ph),glucose disposal rates(GDR),and insulin sensitivity index(ISI) were significantly lower in NAFLD than those of C group(P0.05).Conclusion The result suggested that female patients of NAFLD existed early beta-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance.
