Title: Expression of Cx43 and CD147 and their significance in primary hepatocellular carcinoma
Abstract: Purpose To investigate the expression of Cx43 and CD147 in primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and their relationship with clinicopathological features. Methods PV6000 immunohistochemical system was used to detect the expression of Cx43 and CD147 in 74 HCC tissues and 20 normal liver samples. Results The positive expression rates of Cx43 and CD147 protein in HCC were 27.03% and 63.51%,respectively.However,their positive rates in normal liver tissues were 95.00% and 30.00%,respectively.There was a significant difference between HCC and normal liver tissues(P0.01).The expressions of Cx43 and CD147 were associated with tumor size, differentiation grade,TNM stages and the introhepatic vascular cancer embolus(P0.05).However,their expressions were not related with age, gender, with or without cirrhosis background, the portal vein cancer embolism and the serum level of alpha-fetal protein(AFP)(P0.05).Down-regulation of Cx43 and up-regulation of CD147 were negatively correlated in HCC(P0.01).Conclusions Detection of both factors Cx43 and CD147 in HCC is useful for predicting the local invasion and metastasis. They could be used as novel and useful markers to direct clinic therapy and estimate the prognosis.
