Title: Expression of c-FLIP and Caspase-8 in Breast Cancer and Their Clinical Significance
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of c-FLIP and Caspase-8 in breast cancer and their correlation with metastasis and recurrence. Methods Immunohistochemisty was employed to determine the expression of c-FLIP and Caspase-8 in 80 breast carcinomas and paired adjacent breast tissues. Results c-FLIP was overexpressed in breast cancers compared with paired adjacent breast tissues. The expression of c-FLIP was significantly correlated with TNM stages, histological grade, axillary lymph node metastasis, the recurrence of tumor and the express of C-erbB-2.The expression of Caspase-8 was significantly lower in breast cancers compared with paired adjacent breast tissues. The expression of Caspase-8 was significantly correlated with histological grade, tumor size. There was a significantly negative relationship of c-FLIP with Caspase-8.Conclusion The overexpression of c-FLIP and the inactivation of Caspase-8 might enhance the tumour cell proliferation and malignance in breast cancer.
