Title: Expression of Tie2 and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma and its clinical significance
Abstract: Objective To investigate the significance of the expression of Tie2 and VEGF proteins in hepatocellular carcinoma and their correlation. Methods The expression of Tie2 and VEGF was detected in 30 cases of HCC,10 cases of cirrhotic and 6 cases of normal liver tissues by using S-P immunohistochemical methods. Results In HCC,the expression of Tie2 was correlated with TNM stage, tumor size and intrahepatic vascular embolism(P(0.05)),but not with the extent of differentiation in cancerous tissue and cirrhosis background(P(0.05)).The expression of VEGF was correlated with TNM stage, tumor size and intrahepatic vascular embolism(P(0.05)),but not with cancerous envelope and cirrhosis background.Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the Tie2 expression was positively correlated with VEGF expression in HCC(r=(0.962)).Conclusion The aberrant expression of Tie2 and VEGF may play a role in occurrence, progression and intrahepatic metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
