Title: Effects of Low Temperature Stress on Physiological Indices of Eight Cold Resistance Juglans sigillata Clones
Abstract: Cold resistance of 8 Juglans sigillata clones were examined by measuring the indices such as electrical conductivity, soluble sugar and malondialdehyde(MDA) contents in the leaves that were undergone different low temperatures(4℃,-3℃,-6℃,-9℃,-12℃,in which 4℃ was used as control). The results showed that with the decrease of the stress temperature, the relative electrical conductivity tended to rise as a S curve. The semilethal temperatures of the leaves in vitro(LT50)were between-5℃ to 12℃.Soluble sugar and MDA contents increased firstly then decreased with the decrease of temperature, two indices all arrived the maximum values at-6℃.The content of soluble sugar was positively correlated with the cold resistance,MDA however, was negatively correlated with the severeness of the coldness. The results of the cold resistance of 8 clones from the three evaluation indices were basically identical, indicating that they all could be applied in the evaluation of the cold resistance of J.sigillata.
