Title: Comparision on Cold Resistance of Eucalyptus from Different Provenances
Abstract: 13 eucalyptus samples from different provenances were treated with low-temperature stress ,and their semi-lethal temperature, chlorophyll content,MDA,total protein content, and osmotic adjustment material such as proline and soluble sugar content were determined. The results showed that with the stress time increasing,MDA as well as osmoregulation substances had increased in all the samples. Cold resistance of samples was negatively correlated with the level of MDA,the rate of increase in osmoregulation substances was positively correlated with their cold resistance. During stress period the contents of chlorophyll and protein in lower cold-tolerance samples decreased, but those of in higher cold-tolerance samples didn’t change obviously by comparision with the control. As shown in the results above, there were significant differences not only among different eucalyptus species but between the same species from different provenances in cold resistance. Among 13 eucalyptus species, the cold resistance from strong to weak were:E.sideroxylon(No. 151199)E.grandis(by seed )E.grandis (by tissue culture)E.deanei (No.14521)E.dunnii(No.15967)E.dunnii(No.14113)E.dunnii(No.15956)E.dunnii(No.14452)E.ovata(No.17285)E.ovata(No.13745)E.benthamii(No.88080)E.camaldulensis(No.11911)E.camaldulensis(No.15027).
