Title: Correlation of Tumor Microvessel Density with Prognosis in Extralymphonodal Ki-1 Positive Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between microvessel density and clinical pathology,as well as the prognosis in extralymphonodal Ki 1 positive Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. Methods Specific endothelial cell markers with immunohistochemistry and microvessel density with morphometry were studied in 12 cases of EALCL.Results There was no correlation between the MVD and the sex, age, tumor size, tumor location and phenotype;however, significant correlation was found between the MVD and the proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)labelling index( P 0.01).Microvessel counts were associated with overall survival by Kaplan Meier analysis. An average vessel count of less than 20.5 suggested a better survival, but a higher vessel count showed a trand of worse survival( P 0.01).Conclusion The results suggest a significant relationship between MVD and prognosis;moreover,MVD may be an useful prognostic indicator in extralymphonodal Ki 1 positive Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma.
