Title: Analysis on mixed major gene plus polygene inheritance model of leaf spacing above ear in maize
Abstract: To improve the leaf spacing above ear in maize,six generations(P1,P2,F1,B1,B2 and F2) of a cross between PH6WC and 7873 were selected to investigate the rules of major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance in spring and summer.The results showed that the optimal model for the inheritance leaf spacing above ear in spring was E-0,and two pairs of major genes were detected.The optimal model for leaf spacing the inheritance above ear in summer was E-1,and two pairs of major genes were detected as well.Under both environments,leaf spacing above ear in maize were dominantly controlled by polygenes.The recurrent selection and polymerization backcross could be adopted to accumulate minor genes for the genetic improvement of leaf spacing above ear.
