Title: Geological Characteristics and Prospecting Potential of the Kuhai Mercury Deposit in Qinghai Province
Abstract: In order to learn the characteristics and synthetically evaluate the prospecting potential of the deposit,we have conducted field survey and many types of laboratory tests. The result shows that the ore bodies of the Kuhai gold-bearing mercury deposit, located in the southern orogenic belt of the East Kunlun,is controlled by lithological layers and structures. The ore rocks are composed of low temperature minerals, and the conformation and structure and mineralization types are simple.Alteration of the country rocks includes silification and carbonation. The mineralization occurred in a setting with low liquid and hot liquid from depth involved. It is a hydrothermal deposit in the orogenic belt.Based on these geological characteristics,we make comparison of metallogenesis of the Kuhai mercury with regional mineralization conditions. It is suggested that the Kuhai mercury(gold)deposit has a shallow depth of denudation, good preservation conditions and a bright prospect of exploration for orogen-type gold and multiple metal deposits.
