Title: Effect of resveratrol on the blood glucose level and antioxidase activity in diabetic rats
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of resveratrol on the blood glucose level and antioxidase activity in diabetes rats. Methods Of the 50healthy Wistar rats,10were taken randomly as normal control group, given basic diet, and the others were intraperitoneally injected with low dose of streptozotocin(STZ)to induce T2DM models, which were later randomized into T2DM group, resveratrol low dose(50mg/kg,L)and high dose(100mg/kg,H)groups,with 10rats in each. After feeding high fatty and high sugar diet for 8 weeks, the FPG,FIns,and HbAlc,superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidases(GSH-Px),and malondialdehyde(MDA)of the rat models were detected respectively for analysis. Results Compared with the T2DM group, the levels of FPG,FIns,and HbA1c decreased, the activities of SOD and GSH-px increased, and the MDA content lowered in the resveratrol low dose and high dose groups, with a significant statistical difference(P0.05). Conclusion Resveratrol improves the antioxidative ability, inhibits lipid peroxidation, and decreases the blood glucose level of diabetic rats.
