Title: Observations on the Efficacy of Electroacupuncture plus Acupuncture Point Injection in Treating Facial Neuritis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture plus acupuncture point injection in treating facial neuritis.Method Forty-five patients with facial neuritis were allocated to a treatment group of 20 cases and a control group of 25 cases.The treatment group received electroacupuncture plus acupuncture point injection and the control group,electroacupuncture alone.After 3 courses,treatment stopped in the cured patients and continued in the uncured patients for at most another 3 courses.The Portmann scores and the therapeutic effects were compared between the two groups of patients.Result The Portmann score increased in both groups after 3 courses of treatment than before(both P0.01) but it was higher in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.01).After 3 courses of treatment,the therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture plus acupuncture point injection is an effective way to treat facial neuritis.
