Title: Observations on the Efficacy of Acupuncture plus Rehabilitation in Treating Peripheral Facial Paralysis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture plus rehabilitation in treating peripheral facial paralysis.Methods One hundred patients with peripheral facial paralysis were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,50 cases each.The treatment group received acupuncture plus rehabilitation and the control group,conventional acupuncture.The therapeutic effects and time to recover were evaluated.Results The cure and marked efficacy rate was 96.0% in the treatment group and 82.0% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference(P0.05).On the average,1.8 courses of treatment were needed in cured patients of the treatment group and 2.1,in those of the control group;there was a statistically significant difference(P0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture plus rehabilitation is superior to conventional acupuncture in treating peripheral facial paralysis.
