Title: Application of multi-slice helical CT virtual bronchoscopy in diagnosing central lung cancer
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical application of multi-slice helical CT virtual bronchoscopy (VB) in the diagnosis of centrally located lung cancer. Methods Forty-five patients with central lung cancer were examined by multi-slice helical CT virtual bronchoscopy, and fibrobronchoscope (FBS), and the results were compared. Results The consistency of findings between VB and FBS was up to 93.3%. CTVB could clearly show the size, morpha and location of endoluminal tumor and the degree of bronchial stenosis with infiltrative or extraluminal tumor. Associated with multiplanar reformat, CTVB could demonstrate extraluminal invasion of the tumor. Conclusion Multi-slice helical CT virtual bronchoscopy can accurately show the location, size and degree of bronchial stenosis in central lung cancer.
