These patients underwent pleural biopsy by VATS procedure and were identified as malignant diseases. All cases also underwent the pleurodesis by spraying talc powder and cisplatin to the thoracic cavity.RESULTS: Pleural effusion of all patients improved completely after operation. No recurrence was found during a follow-up of 1-24 months term.CONCLUSIONS: VATS produces good results in the diagnosis of the origin of pleural effusion.
