Title: Distribution and seasonal variation of mosquitoes in Jingmen City,Hubei
Abstract: Objective To find out the mosquito species, seasonal changes, night activity rhythm and the impacts of different ecological environments on mosquitoes in Jingmen city. Methods Sampling points were selected in four different habitats,UV-trapping lamp was used, and time-phased mosquito-trap was used at night during the activity peak hours.Mosquito samples were classified, identified and statistically treated. Results The highest mosquito density was in late July, reached 693 /(per lamp o Night).Mosquito density was the highest from 21∶00~23∶00 pm and 03∶00~05∶00am,reached 12/(per lamp o Hour) and 10.5/(per lamp o Hour) respectively.1 family,5 genera 13 species were collected, among which Culex pipiens pallens(Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus),Anopheles sinensis,Armigeres obturbans and Culex tritaeniorhynchus were of higher density.During peak period,C.tritaeniorhynchus accounted for 82.6% in rural plain areas, while A.obturbans accounted for 64.3% in mountainous areas. Conclusions C.pipiens pallens,Anopheles sinensis,A.obturbans,C.tritaeniorhyn chus were the four dominant mosquito species. The peak period of mosquito activity was from early July to early August. There were two activity peaks at night,:21∶00-23∶00 pm and 03∶00-05∶00 am.C.tritaeniorhynchus was the dominant mosquito species in rural plain areas,A.sinensis was the dominant mosquito species in rural mountainous areas.
