Title: Investigation on mosquito density in Wuhan in 2006-2009.
Abstract: Objective To investigate the species composition and seasonal growth and decay trend of adult mosquito in Wuhan in 2006-2009,and provide scientific basis for mosquito control and epidemic encephalitis B prevention.Methods Lamp baited trap method.Results Totally 151 116 mosquitoes were trapped,including 6 species distributed in 4 genera under 1 family during four years.The dominant species was Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus in Wuhan urban area,accounted for 99.9%,while Culex tritaeniorhynchus in rural area for 62.3%.The investigation showed similar results of seasonal growth and decay trend of mosquito every year.Mosquito density reached high peak between June to August,of which was very weak from January to March,November to December,but the rate of the average appeared descend trend.Conclusion Cx.tritaeniorhynchus was the dominant species in rural area,and Cx.pipiens quinquefasciatus was the dominant species in urban area.No obvious changes could be found with the species composition and the seasonal growth of mosquito.So mosquito control can be carried out from April to October in Wuhan.
