Title: Theoretical Reasons of Business English and Principles of Its Course Design
Abstract: English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a sub-branch in the English language teaching and business English is seen as the most dynamic area of ESP. In recent years, with the development of world economy and international trade, business English has also been developing rapidly and offered to college English majors as an indispensable course for training interdisciplinary talents of foreign languages. In the ESP course, syllabus design can best display the characteristics of the course, which is designed on the basis of teaching theories and principles. This paper, based on the theoretical reasons and characteristics of business English, discusses some principles of business English course design for college English majors.
