Title: Analysis of accidental death of townspeople in 7 cities of Liaoning province from 1988 to 2000
Abstract: Objective: To study the characteristics and trend of accidental deaths of townspeople in 7 cities of Liaoning province from 1988 to 2000. Methods: Data from annual Liaoning province death registry (1988-2000) were analyzed to study the mortality rate of accidental death and its trend. Results: The mortality rate of accidental death was 40.48/105, ranked the 5th in all death causes, and tended to wave. The mortality rate in men was higher than that in women, and the sex ratio was 2.20. The highest mortality rate was found in the population aged 20 to 39 years. The first 4 causes of accidental death were traffic accident, suicide, poisoning, and accidental fall in turn. The mortality rate of suicide was 6.51/105 and tended to decrease. The mortality rate of traffic accidents was 10.07 /105 and tended to increase, especially in men. Conclusion: Accidental injury has been one of the leading causes of death and has not been controlled effectively in the townspeople, so it is important to strengthen safety education and improve safety measures.
