Title: Expression of P16 and P53 in human brain gliomas tissue
Abstract: Aim: To explore the expression of P16 and P53 in human brain gliomas tissue and to investigate the relationship between the pathological grades and their expression. Methods: The expressions of P16 and P53 were detected by immunohistochemistry in 56 cases of glioma (12 cases of grade Ⅰ,16 cases of gradeⅡ,18 cases of grade Ⅲ,and 10 cases of grade Ⅳ) and 10 normal brain tissue samples. Results: There was a strong correlation between the pathological grades and the expression of P16 (r=-0.516,P0.05)and P53(r=0.367,P0.05). Compared with normal brain tissue and glioma tissue at grade Ⅰand Ⅱ, positive expression rate of P53 was higher (χ2=8.302,P=0.040)while that of P16 was lower (χ2=15.069,P=0.002) in glioma tissue of grade Ⅲand Ⅳ.Conclusion: P16 and P53 play an important role in the development and progression of glioma.
