Title: The expression and significance of HIF-1α in human gliomas of different pathological grade
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of HIF-1α in human gliomas and the relationship between the expression level and the pathologieal grade. Methods 67 surgical specimens were obtained from patients with gliomas of different pathological grading and 10 normal brain tissue were obtained from patients received internal decompression surgery because of craniocerebral trauma. The expression level of HIF-1α in gliomas and normal brain tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry.Rasults HIF-1α positive expression was observed in 36%grade Ⅱ gliomas,in 72.7% grade Ⅲ gliomas,in 80% grade Ⅳ gliomas. No positive expression of both HIF-1α was observed in normal brain tissue. The positive exprssion rate of HIF-1α in grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ glioma was obviously increased compared with grade Ⅱ gliomas. In accordance with the increasing of glioma grades, the expressing intensity of HIF-1α was increased significantly too(r=0.518).Conclusion HIF-1α was highly expressed in human gliomas, the positive expression rate and the expressing intensity was increased in accordance with the increasing of glioma grades.
