Title: An analysis on the complications with transperineal prostate biopsy.
Abstract: Objective To investigate and govern the complications of transperineal prostate biopsy.MethodsA retrospective analysis was performed of the complication in 103 patients who underwent transperineal prostate biopsy between 2005 and 2009.ResultsA total of 21 patients suffered gross hematuria,6 patients suffered rectal bleeding,25 patients suffered lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS),fever in 8 patients,urinary retention in 17 patients,2 patients suffered severe complications.Conclusion Transperineal prostate biopsy is simple and safety by using 18 gague biopsy needles.The administration of thin puncture needle,the use of antibiotics and intestine irrigation before biopsy are regarded to decrease the incidence of these complications.An experienced operator may decrease the incidence of complications.
