Title: Complications of transperineal prostate biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound:Analysis of 615 cases
Abstract: Objective To investigate the related factors of the complications of transperineal prostate biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed for 615 patients who underwent transperineal prostate biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound.The incidence of complications and related factors were analyzed.Results Among 615 patients,complications occurred in 213(213/615,34.63%),including gross hematuria in 117 patients(117/213,54.93%),lower urinary tract symptoms in 40(40/213,18.78%),urinary retention in 27(27/213,12.68%),vasovagal reflex in 11(11/213,5.16%),hematuria with hemospermia in 8(8/213,3.76%),and fever in 6patients(6/213,2.82%),swelling and bleeding of perineum in 4patients(4/213,1.88%).There was correlation between puncture times and complications(P=0.007).Conclusion Transperineal prostate biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound is a useful and safe method for early diagnosis of prostate cancer.Using 16 Gor 18Gneedle,reasonable puncture can effectively reduce the incidence of complications.
