Title: Relationship between contents of two correlative factors in serum and non-small cell lung cancer
Abstract: Objective To explore clinical significance of serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and its relationship with the TNM staging and pathological types of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods The contents of serum VEGF and MMP-9 were measured with ELISA in 97 patients with different TNM staging of NSCLC.The t-test,ANOVA and rank correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. Results The levels of serum VEGF between 50 patients with lung glandular carcinoma and 47 patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma was not statistically different(P 0.05).The levels of serum VEGF of Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ in lung cancer patients were 251.1 ± 72.43,261.30 ± 67.21,27.91 ± 74.67,313.2 ± 75.23 pg /ml,respectively,with significant difference(F = 11.12,P 0.01).The TNM staging and the levels serum VEGF in NSCLC were positive correlative(r = 0.62,P = 0.01).The levels of serum MMP-9 of patients with lung glandular carcinoma and patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma were 856.7 ± 81.5 and 623.2 ± 72.2 ng /ml with significant difference(t = 2.54,P 0.05).The levels of serum MMP-9 of Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ in lung cancer patients were 602.8 ±78.4,714.5 ±79.3,880.5 ±72.9,and 934.5 ±73.8 ng/ml with significant difference(F = 9.00,P = 0.01).The TNM staging and the levels serum MMP-9 in NSCLC were positive correlative(r =0.52,P =0.01).The two correlative factors in serum of patients with NSCLC were positive correlative(r = 0.74,P 0.01).Conclusion The levels of serum VEGF adn MMP-9 in patients with NSCLC are closely correlated with TNM staging and there is a synergic effect between the two correlative factor.
