Methods We employed fNIRS to evaluate cortical activation with unilateral hand movement in a patient with meningioma and 2 controls. Block design of finger movement task was used. The activated channles were compared between the patient and controls. Results Activation in motor area in contralateral hemisphere were found during unilateral hand movement. Activation in contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex(PSMC) were found during right hand movement in the patient. Activation was found in right PSMC(area posterolateral to the tumor) and was weak during left hand movement. Simultanoesly, activation in left PSMC, supplementary motor area(SMA) and premotor cortex(PMC) were relatively stronger. Conclusion Cortical reorganization can be detected by fNIRS in patient with brain tumor in central sulcus.Read More
