Title: Effects of water-potassium interaction on dry matter accumulation in flue-cured tobacco
Abstract: Field trial was carried out to study effects of water-potassium interaction on dry matter accumulation in flue-cured tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum L.)in order to provide improved measures for flue-cured tobacco production in Jilin province. Results showed that appropriate irrigation and potassium application can significantly improve the accumulation of dry matters in tobacco in different growth and development stage.Good combination was to keep relative soil moisture content between 55%-65% at root spreading stage and maturing stage,75%-85% at vigorous growing stage, and maintain the amount of potassium at 180 kg·hm-2.Dry matter accumulation difference at root spreading stage and vigorous growing stage was mainly attributed to water supply, while at maturing stage the difference was mainly attributed to potassium supply. Therefore, appropriate soil moisture and potassium fertilizer in different growth and development stage can improve tobacco leaf productivity and quality.
