Title: Purification of Polyphenols from Pomegranate Peel by Macroporous Adsorbent Resin
Abstract: From 10 kinds of macroporous adsorbent resins including D3520,D4020,AB-8,D140,D141,D160,DM-301,DA-201,SAD-7 and D101,D141 resin was selected as a suitable material to purify the polyphenols from pomegranate peel. The static saturated adsorption capacity of D141 resin was 19.86 mg/g dry resin while the time for it to achieve saturation adsorption was 5 h.Besides, the adsorption isotherm data of D141 resin could well fit the Langmuir equation.70%(volume fraction) ethanol was a suitable solvent to elute the polyphenols adsorbed on the resin. The breakthrough adsorption capacity of the resin was 39.42 mg/g dry resin at a feeding concentration of 9 mg/mL and a flow rate of 1.8-2.0 BV/h.2.5 BV of 70%(volume fraction) ethanol could completely elute the polyphenols adsorbed on the column. When pomegranate peel extract was purified under this condition, the yield of purified sample was 15.4 g/100 g dry peel with the polyphenol mass fraction increasing from 34% to 76.34%.
