Title: Screening the Watermelon Rootstocks Specially for Protected Cultivation
Abstract: The watermelon cultivars were grafted on ten different rootstocks and then the biological characteristics of the watermelon cultivars were determined. The results showed that the ZW2 rootstock had significant effects of improving the plant growth, fruit setting and yield as well as maturing stage of grafted watermelon cultivars. In addition, the ZW2 had a rather high resistance to fusaric acid and NaCl,and could adapt to the climate conditions in Shanghai and meet the need of continuously culturing watermelon cultivars in protected cultivation conditions, and so could be demonstrated and popularized.
