Title: Effects of rootstocks on the growth and fruit quality of grafted watermelon plants
Abstract: The superior medium-fruit-type watermelon variety 'Zaojia' was used as a test material, and the greenhouse culture of its self-root and grafted plants was carried out in order to study the effects of five different rootstocksC Wild Watermelons 1 and 2','Tiemuzhen','Changzhenlishi',and 'Towel Gourd')on its growth,disease resistance and fruit quality.The results showed that the rootstock 'Wild Watermelon 2' had the best grafting affinity and the least effect on the watermelon plant growth and fruit quality and also presented a relatively high disease resistance.Therefore it could be used as a priority rootstock variety in watermelon culture by grafting.
