Title: Effects of L-alanyl-L-glutamine intensified parenteral nutrition support on critically ill surgical patients
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effects of L alanyl L glutamine (LALG)intensified parenteral nutrition support in critically ill surgical patients. Methods 24 patients were randomized into two groups:control group received only parenteral nutrition support,LALG group received parenteral nutrition support and LALG(1 5 ml/kg).Nitrogen balance, nutrition, immune functions and patient tolerance parameters were determined at pre treatment and 4th,7th,14th days after treatment. Results After 7 days treatment, the two groups all turned from negative nitrogen balance to positive nitrogen balance. The nutrition and immune functions parameters increased significantly in both groups but more in LALG group. For tolerance parameters, blood glucose and total bilirubin increased obviously in control group with no change in LALG group. Conclusion LALG intensified parenteral nutrition has better effects on improvementof the patients nutrition and immune functions, and patients tolerance is better compared with parenteral nutrition alone.
